Ballon d'Or 2022: Manchester City Win Club Of The Year Award

Following an outstanding season, Manchester City has been named Club of the Year at the 2022 Ballon d’Or awards.

The Cityzens dazzled once more in the men’s game, defeating Liverpool in a hard-fought title battle to win their sixth Premier League title, while also reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

City’s women’s team finished third in the WSL after overcoming a difficult start to the season, while also reaching the FA Cup final and winning the Women’s League Cup.

Lucy Bronze, now a Barcelona player, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahre, Ederson, Joao Cancelo, and Phil Foden were all nominated for awards on the night, a testament to the club’s strong showings throughout the previous season.

Real Madrid defeated City in a dramatic Champions League semi-final to deny City a return to the summit of Europe, but Pep Guardiola’s side otherwise looked dominant as ever, winning the Premier League with 93 points.

On the night, Haaland finished 10th in the Ballon d’Or standings, the highest of any City player, while Bronze, who now plays for Barcelona, finished 10th in the women’s standings.
