Beyonce's Album Cowboy Carter Explained: Everything We Know About Her Upcoming Country Album

With the huge success of her 'Renaissance' tour and album, which celebrated Black queer culture, songstress Beyoncé announced two country singles, Texas Hold Em and 16 Carriages, on Instagram, which dropped on March 11. Following this announcement, she confirmed that the second act titled Cowboy Carter, will be a country album that will be released towards the end of the month leaving fans to speculate what will be in the final product.

Here's everything we know about the upcoming project so far.

When will Cowboy Carter album be released?

Following the premiere of her Verizon advertisement during the Super Bowl earlier this year, Beyonce's website and social media were updated with the album's release date, March 29 along with two new singles accompanied by visuals 'Texas Hold Em' and '16 Carriages.'

Ahead of the album release for the first act, Renaissance, the singer posted a message for her fans about the project on her website: "This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic," she explained, "A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative."

What are the names of the songs on Cowboy Carter?

She so far has revealed the names of two singles. The first single is called Texas Hold Em, which has an upbeat feel and has gone down well with fans after individuals on video-sharing application TikTok have already started coming up with a new dance craze to perform to the song, just like her R&B hit off the first album Cuff it.

The other single is a country-filled ballad called 16 Carriages. The emotive song brings listeners on a journey with the Halo singer as she reflects on her journey so far in music, most notably starting out with the girl group Destiny's Child, and the hardships she faced whilst being both an artist as a mother, with one of the lines in the song: "Goin so hard, I miss my kids."

What genre is the album?

Cowboy Carter will be a country album, drawing inspiration from the singer's Houston roots and upbringing. Fans had been speculating the theme of the album as Beyoncé attended the Grammy Awards in a custom Louis Vuitton designed by Pharrell Williams, consisting of a black, leather studded skirt suit and a bold, white cowboy hat which finished off the look.

Will Beyonce cover Dolly Parton's Jolene?

So far, there have been no confirmed collaborations on the project but Country icon, Dolly Parton teased that there may be a cover of her smash hit Jolene on the album after speaking to Knox News this year: "Well, I think she has!" she explained, "I think she's recorded 'Jolene' and I think it will probably be on her country album, which I'm very excited about that."

The 9 to 5 singer then went on to praise Beyonce's accomplishments and reported that they have kept in touch over the years, dubbing her a "great singer."

Will Beyonce go on tour after the album release?

Beyonce has yet to announce a tour or any other future dates for this particular project but there have been rumours surrounding her doing a residency in Las Vegas' Sphere, though this is unconfirmed.
