Viral Video Of SHS Students Being Served ‘Gari’ With ‘Raw Soup’ As Lunch

Food scarcity has resulted in students eating less nutritious food at several senior high schools across the country.

Following the implementation of the Free SHS policy, many schools have been severely impacted by a lack of funds to support the day-to-day operations of their schools.

This has resulted in overcrowding in the dormitories, a lack of furniture, and the serving of ‘gari’ with ‘raw soup’ as lunch…or so the schools claim.

Many people’s hearts have been broken by a video taken and shared by blogger Kobby Kyei.

It was an eyesore at St Paul’s Senior High School SPACO and Hatsukorpe Minor Seminary (Ketu South).

These students are seen preparing to eat gari with watery soup, which contains only one fish for every ten students.

The amount of food served was disproportionate to the number of students present. Their expressions expressed hunger and hopelessness.

Many have called for the immediate review or abolishment of the Free SHS following the wanton challenges that have plagued the smooth running of the laudable policy.
