I Wanted To Be An Architect Not A Gospel Musician : Joe Mettle

Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle popularly known as Joe Mettle, has revealed that his dream was to become an Architect, despite his talent in singing.

According to him, even though it was at the back of his mind that he would sing or do music someday, he also knew he wanted a career in architecture.

‘I actually started though; I started drawing and I used to do building drawing. I went to Modesco to learn that for a while thinking I could probably get into KNUST or any other institution to further it, but it didn’t happen,’ he said in an interview with Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning show on February 23, 2023.

The “BO NOO NI” hitmaker also made it known that upon getting into the university, he studied marketing instead of architecture because studying architecture needed dedication and  ample time.

Per the musician, architecture wasn’t like the other fields that one could study alongside doing other things.

“I knew I was spending a lot of my time doing ministry, so I wanted to do something else that wouldn’t affect the ministry and so I decided to go ahead to study marketing,’ the musician noted.

The 2017 VGMA Gospel Artiste of year disclosed that growing up, he was under strict parental control and used to sell with his mother to make ends meet.

According to him, they sold cooked food, Waakye leaves amongst others, making him gain knowledge in marketing related stuff and eventually falling with marketing also.
