Jay-Z's Mother Marries Her Long Time Lesbian Partner

Gloria Carter, the mother of famed rapper Jay-Z, married longtime lover Roxanne Wilshire on Sunday night in New York City.

Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Tyler Perry, and Robin Roberts attended the star-studded wedding. The wedding guests allegedly partied hard at the reception, which took place in Tribeca and ended at 1am.

As the evening came to an end, the newlyweds were seen leaving the celebration, Gloria in a white suit and Roxanne in a magnificent gold and white shimmering gown.

Gloria, who came out as a lesbian in his 2017 song "Smile," has received a lot of love from Jay-Z. She used the song to express her feelings of "living in the shadows" as a gay lady.

"Mama had four kids, but she's a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she's a thespian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate/Society shame and the pain was too much to take," he rapped. "Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don't matter to me if it's a him or her/I just wanna see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let 'em eat cake."
Jay-Z stated in an interview with David Letterman on the Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction that he did cry with excitement when he discovered his mother had fallen in love.
