Tyson Fury won a contentious decision over Francis Ngannou in a boxing battle in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night, surviving a knockdown by the MMA star.
Fury arrived in Riyadh with an undefeated professional record, while Ngannou was making his boxing debut. Fury, 35, did not defend his WBC heavyweight title in the bout, which lasted full ten rounds and saw Ngannou, 37, do enough to beat the boxer.
In Round 3, the Cameroonian stunned the audience and the combat-sports world by dropping the Briton with a left hook. For much of the fight, Ngannou outboxed Fury, only to be denied victory when the scorecards were read aloud.
Fury was declared a split-decision winner after a close battle, and he squared off against unified heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk, whom he is slated to meet next - also in Saudi Arabia.
