Messi was announced as the 2023 winner at the Awards ceremony in London on Monday, in his absence.
Messi was not at his own party since he was with his Inter Miami colleagues training for a preseason friendly against El Salvador on Friday.
Messi won the vote ahead of fellow contestants Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
The Argentina captain had previously received the honor for his performances in 2019 and 2022.
The Best FIFA Football Awards are usually based on performances and votes by club and national team captains during a calendar year.
